Wall Mount Dimension
Hood Width: Wall-mounted range hood should be at least as wide as the range.
Hood Height: Range Hood should be between 30" and 36"(C) above your cooktop.
Depth: for a range hood depth that is the same or less than your range depth. Your range hood should be deep enough to cover all rear and front burners to most effectively vent your cooking space.(Make sure there are no bumps and no obstruction to cooking)

Internal Motor:
Hood liner that has blowers mounted inside the hood.
Remote Blower
Motor installed in the attic/on an wall and the liner in the hood.
Ductless Conversion
Recirculating hoods recycle air back into the kitchen after removing grease and cooking odors.
- Internal: Generally recommended. An internal blower is built-in the vent hood. Easy to install, motor, liner and hood in one set, high CFM to better function. RHM hood vent/fan noise is quiet under 70dB.
- Remote: the motor is located outside the kitchen, either on the attic/roof or on an outside wall. Lower noise while ask more complicate installation, space and higher budget!
- Ductless: Ductless, also called a recirculating range hood recirculate air through a filter to remove odors without ducting. Filtering and recycling air inside your kitchen. Recirculating hoods require regular filter changes to maximize performance.
How to choose a CFM
HVI recommends 100 CFM per linear foot of stovetop for stoves that sit against a wall, and 150 CFM per linear foot of stovetop if you have a cooktop installed on the kitchen island. So, if you have a 3-foot range, you need a range hood with at least a rating of 300 CFMs. Click here to learn more.
