Door to Door All Across America
Door to Door All Across America
(Design and Drawn by Hank Brown)
This beautiful kitchen project in Naples, Florida features a custom ribbed brass range hood designed and handcrafted by RangeHoodMaster. The homeowner wanted a statement ventilation hood that would complement their Thermador professional insert, while also fitting naturally into the proportions of their kitchen layout.
The goal of the design was simple: create a hood that felt architectural and refined, while still maintaining the warmth and craftsmanship that brass brings to a kitchen space.
At the early stage of the project, the homeowner was deciding between two different styles: concave box design or fluted ribs box design.
Both approaches create depth and visual movement on a large metal surface, but they produce very different visual effects in a kitchen. To help the client visualize the options, we prepared two drawings for comparison.
option A: concave box design, based on model SH5-L2RC.
option B: fluted ribs box design, based on model SH5-LF-R02.

The homeowner ultimately chose the fluted rib design, which gives the hood a stronger architectural presence.
Every kitchen layout is different, the hood was fully customized to fit the available space. The final dimensions were: 48" Width × 47" Height × 24" Depth.
The design was also engineered to fit the homeowner’s Thermador ventilation insert (Model VCIN48GWS), ensuring proper airflow and seamless integration with the Thermador range below.
Final approved drawing:
Once the design was finalized, the project moved into fabrication at our workshop.
Each fluted rib panel is carefully hand-curved and welded by our craftsmen. Achieving consistent spacing and smooth curvature across multiple ribs requires careful shaping and alignment during fabrication.
Because custom metal hoods are both large and heavy, the internal structure of the hood is also reinforced. This reinforced framework helps maintain the shape of the hood and prevents deformation during transportation.
Once completed, the hood was shipped and installed in the homeowner’s kitchen. After installation, the brass hood became the centerpiece of the space. The vertical ribs create subtle shadow lines across the brass surface, and the warm metal finish balances beautifully with the surrounding cabinetry and stone.
Every custom hood project starts with a simple question: how should this piece live in the space?
Sometimes the answer comes quickly. Other times it takes a few drawings, a few conversations, and a bit of exploration before the right form appears.
In this Naples kitchen, the brass ribs brought just enough texture and structure to give the hood presence without overwhelming the room. Seeing it finally installed always feels like the final step of the design process.
And then it’s on to the next project.
