Door to Door All Across America
Every custom hood starts with a drawing, but the drawing is only the beginning.
For this project, we designed a classic sloped stainless steel range hood with clean lines and a simple silhouette. The goal was to create something elegant enough to complement the traditional kitchen without making the hood feel too heavy or overly decorative.
The CAD drawing helped us work through the proportions, dimensions, and overall shape before fabrication. For a custom hood, these details are especially important. The slope, height, width, and depth all need to work together with the cabinetry and ventilation.
We kept the design intentionally simple, allowing the stainless steel to become part of the kitchen rather than competing with it.
Once the design was approved, our workshop brought the drawing to life in 16 gauge stainless steel. The clean sloped profile gives the hood a classic architectural look, while the stainless steel finish adds a subtle contemporary touch.
For me, this is one of the most rewarding parts of custom work: seeing a two-dimensional drawing gradually become a finished piece.
And then comes the moment that matters most, the installation.
In the finished kitchen, the hood works beautifully with the warm white cabinetry, brass hardware, natural stone surfaces, and soft brick backsplash. The stainless steel adds just enough contrast to keep the space from feeling too monochromatic, while its simple shape fits naturally into the traditional setting.
This is why I always enjoy seeing the final installation. A hood can look completely different once it becomes part of the whole kitchen—and in this case, the finished result feels exactly as we hoped when we first drew it.
From a line on a CAD drawing to the center of a finished kitchen. That is the beauty of custom design.
